We have a new show of work from local artists featuring a wide response to the theme of ‘Flora and Fauna’.

Artists from the Abergavenny Art Group, Torfaen Arts Factory and many more entered work into an ‘Open Call’ and the artwork was installed last week.

 

Alicia Hyde

MA student and artist Alicia Hyde (left) is a Creative and Therapeutic Arts Practitioner with a passion for painting and drawing, in particular flowers. This painting invites an aspect of the local community into Nevill Hall Hospital. She has exploited the use of colour and painterly language to explore flowers.

 

Chris Duggan and Graham Allen

Artists Chris Duggan and Graham Allen art part of Torfaen Arts Factory. Graham Allen is an accomplished artist. And paints a large variety of different subjects using mainly acrylics. Characterized by an aggressive, bold style he excels in the use of vibrant colour.  Chris is a photographer who particularly enjoys photographing wildlife, especially birds.

 

Jane Boswell

Jane Boswell has been painting and drawing all her life. She graduated from Art College in 1983 and has spent the best part of her career as a teacher of Art. Jane’s first love and passion has been landscape and she has a real fondness for the sea and mountains of Wales. Jane also enjoys flowers, finding the detail both challenging and inspiring.

 

Marion Cheung

Portraits, technology and our relationship to the environment are recurring themes in Marion Cheung’s paintings. She creates mixed media work, and collaborates with artists to make audio pieces for her exhibitions. (Left: Every concrete jungle needs its own green space)

 

Sarah Goodey

Sarah Goodey is an artist and photographer who enjoys exploring new and old techniques to make pictures that feature the landscape and details from nature.

 

Ralph Heron

Ralph Heron is a member of the Abergavenny Art Club and enjoys painting and drawing. Olwyn Pugh enjoys painting portraits in pastel and landscapes in watercolour and has exhibited her work in Brynmawr and Abergavenny venues. Olwyn is a committee member of Abergavenny Art Group which she joined in 2001.

 

Linda Wood

Linda Wood is an artist who lives in Gilwern and explores a variety of media through her artwork.

 

This is the 49th show in a series of exhibitions in and around Nevill Hall Hospital, organised by Gwent Arts in Health (Garth). Garth is a charity that works in parallel with the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.  Our aim is to improve the patient and visitor experience through a range of art projects both transitory and permanent and to realise the potential of the arts in promoting health and wellbeing.
